Workshop A : Beginner
Sunday 19th May 2024  It was a fabulous class!

  • Duration: 1 day, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM (Arrivals from 8:30 AM)

  • What you’ll do:
    Step into a world where mosaics come alive! We’re moving beyond the traditional mosaic trivet and introducing mosaic mobiles made from diverse substrates to elevate your interest and learning curve. This one-day workshop is a whirlwind of learning and creativity. You’ll master the basics and Sandy’s unique techniques, enabling you to expand your mosaic repertoire.
    From shaping glass vitreous glass mosaic  tiles, mirror, ceramic tile, stained glass, porcelain tile, slate, using a variety of mosaic tools to mastering adhesives like Weldbond, Prep glue, thinset, and silicon, this workshop has it all. Learn when to grout and when not to, how to add special effects and explore the direct method, push-in method, and mosaic on mesh method. Learn about substrates, how to hang, shape your mobiles from MOSboard, mosaic lightweight board and MOSmats.
    It’s a hands-on day filled with creativity and fun!  Your head will be spinning with ideas after making your mosaic coaster and assorted hanging mobiles.
    Workshop A gives a brief intro in to cutting a simple china flower, to put on your mobile, but Workshop B covers it all regarding 3D pique assiette/crockery and more!

What you’ll take home:
A completed, grouted mosaic coaster and assorted mosaic hanging mobiles, reference notes and mosaics to showcase your newfound skills.

Students must have attended a past mosaic Beginner Workshop at OzMosaics before booking into Workshop B. You need the skill sets from any of our Workshop A before Workshop B.

**Workshop B: Mosaic Floral 3D Mural. Mosaic Classes Australia
30 x 20cm slate base, ready to hang rope installed, featuring a basket of 3D flowers/leaves etc

Advanced: Sat/Sun 13/14 July 2024

  • Duration: 2 days, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM each day (arrivals from 8.30am)
  • Cost: $425.00, deposit $100.00  On Sale $395.00!
  • Maximum Students: 6
  • What you’ll do:
    Enter the world of mixed media and pique assiette! 
    Immerse yourself in the art of shaping mosaic flowers and more. Create a stunning mosaic mural featuring 3D flowers, slate, mirror, wine bottle, smalti, vitreous glass tiles, and crockery on a textured background using thinsets and special effects. You’ll craft a mini Hydrangea bloom and other captivating florals. Sandy will guide you through her unique method of creating specialty mosaic leaves!  Create your beautiful mural on our prepared slate base.
  • What you’ll take home: A completed mosaic and samples of techniques, reference notes etc,  that you can use for future projects or reference.
    Exciting!  New class project samples are underway, we will notify you soon with photos of the workshop project.

Common Information for Both Workshops

What to Bring:

  • Safety glasses ($6 The Mosaic Mall, or buy when you arrive) , a paper face mask (to use when mixing grout etc), and an apron or old large shirt etc.
    It can get a bit messy!
  • Simple lunch (sandwich, wrap, bowl salad etc) and any snacks you might want throughout the day.
  • A water drinking bottle with your name on it.
  • Warm clothes or to suit the weather. No shorts, for health and safety. Old clothes to get messy!
  • The studio is air-conditioned but bring a scarf or jacket if it’s a cold day.
  • A hat if you wish to sit in the sunshine. Closed in shoes for safety such as joggers/sandshoes etc , no thongs or open sandals.

Payment Details:

  • A deposit is required upon booking. Bank transfer/ credit card/ PayPal/ cash
  • The final payment is due one week before the class.
  • If you cancel, you lose your deposit. However, if we cancel then your deposit is refunded.
  • If you’re flying in, please take out travel insurance as the class only goes ahead with a minimum of 4 bookings.
    The class is limited to a maximum of 6 students to ensure personalized attention.
  • Our Mosaic Kitchen provides a fridge and microwave for your convenience.
  • Complimentary biscuits, teabags (green tea, English Breakfast, Earl Grey), and coffee (Moccona) are available.
    Bring your own brands if desired.
  • After the workshop, you may shop for mosaic products online at The Mosaic Mall, OzMosaics’ online store, or stay after class and shop in our Studio Store.
    Please allow some time for this if you are being picked up after the workshop. Shop at OzMosaics by appointment in the future.
  • All sealers, grout, adhesives, patterns, materials, and bases needed to make your mosaics are included in the workshop.
    Each student has a comfortable work desk & a full set of mosaic tools and accessories are provided for use during the class.

    After your deposit is paid, you will be sent an email confirming your booking and we ask for more info regarding your mosaic experience etc so we can tailor the class to suit everyone attending.
